Road to Recovery!

It has been 3 days since the operation. My throat still hurts at times, but it was nothing compared to the first 2 days. It is basically the road to recovery. The doctor said that it'll probably take a week for it to heal. Before i can start eating food that i like.

My daily washing of the wound is necessary for it to heal properly. Although it feels troublesome at times, I've got no choice.

Well i'm praying hard that i will get back to my proper self as soon as possible!

Day 17 in Harbin, China

Another two days have passed... A wonderful day spent at the farm plucking grapes followed by a short visit to a local studio then to a shopping center to do pottery making and ending the day of with a huge dinner with the teachers.

Firstly, the farm visit was quite nice. Althought it was pretty hot there, i managed to endured throughout the visit. It ended of with us going to a grape garden to pluck freshly growned grapes. I paid 50 RMB for a a whole basket of grapes.

Next, to the recording studio. It was pretty small but nontheless a experience to see how studios are like in Harbin.

To pottery class, I opted out of it for the chance to walk around the shopping mall instead. I didn't regret it! HAHAHAHA!

Lastly, dinner. Only one word.... FULL!!!!!! it was really a filling dinner! BELCH!

O well, hope i can get good sleep tonight hehe!

Day 15 in Harbin, China

Yesterday was Sunday, a free day for all of us. I went with a couple of friends to a bookshop near a shopping district to look for musical scores which we were told they had. Turned out that they only had scores for Piano and Chinese musical instruments like Er Hu and stuff like that. I bought a Piano book for my brother cuz he likes the pieces in the particular TV show (Bu Neng Shuo De Mi Mi - Secret). I also got a DVD for my grandparents and parents to watch. Its called The Qin Empire. Last but not least i bought 2 Classical CD package for myself. One is a compilations of Herbert Von Karajan (my fav conductor. he conducts the berlin phil most of the time which so happens to be my fav orchestra) the other CD is a compilation of woodwin pieces.

Well today was the final day of all the lessons we have had in Harbin Normal University. In addition to today's lesson, Geoffrey showed the China professor and some students Pro Tools and its functions. They were really amazed at the uses of the program. We had photo-taking sessions with the teachers too. Plus giving them token's of appreciations from SP and from the students too. (cards)

Now we can litterally do a count-down to the final day of our China trip... 6 more days to go.

Tomorrow's intinery is a visit to Harbin's Tiger Park. Where we get to do feeding and stuff like that. Will update the blog again on how the trip turn out tmrw.

Day 13 in Harbin, China

Hey'all today most of the day was spent at Tai Yang Dao. It is a small island connected by a bridge(something like sentosa). It had a small amusement park and also many different gardens within the island.

As we had only 2 hours to spend there, we made use of it by riding bicycles that was rented for 30 RMB per hour and rides in the amusement park. Rides include a small roller coaster etc. It wasn't really exciting but me and the rest of the group tried to make some fun out of it by screaming for no apparent reason. Anyway, after that ride, a couple of us went on the water ride. The ride that has a boat pludging down into a water area splashing water all over and weting you. As I was wearing my jacket cum rain coat, my body was dry but my pants were soaked! Nontheless it was pretty exciting.

After that was a ride something like the pirate ship in most big amusement parks. The only difference is that instead of a pirate ship, it was a flying saucer that rotates 360 degree while swinging from one end to the other. A whole group of us went for that ride and it was pretty cool!

Well, as the day comes to a close, I look forward to a good soccer match later in the night before heading to bed!

Day 11 in Harbin, China

Well its day the end of day 11 in Harbin, China. Today we had a 2 lessons at the usual place where we always have our lessons. 7 floors above the ground level of a mini-accommodation place.

However, today for our second lesson, we went to a recording studio within the university campus. The recording studio was more of a recording studio used for filming of News and stuff like that. Geoffrey conducted a mini REMT lesson for us in groups.

After that we went for lunch at the Korean restaurant just located next to the usual classroom. We had a great meal as usual filling too. (Kinda ate too much *Belch*).

Today's last lesson was the Chinese Musical Instrument lesson. Today's instrument was the Suo Na (a double-reed instrument which makes irritating noises when played at a high pitch >.<) and Di Zi (flute)... Nice sound from the Di Zi. Hehe...

Anyway, today's day is almost over so I'll cut short my blog entry so i can rest for tmrw's lesson.

Day 9 in Harbin, China

Well today is day 9 already... 12 more days to go... but im not thinking about that just yet... today classes were as per usual.

When it came to chinese musical instrument class, there is when the excitment began. Firstly, Gabriel got "sabotaged" by us all to go to the front to play the Gu Zheng since he played it b4. He managed to play a short piece of twinkle twinkle little star which got the class into an applause. However, when Irfan stepped up to play it, we were utterly amazed by his skills on the Gu Zheng. First of all he played Mo Li Hua which sent the class wild. The teacher and teacher assisstant were amazed too. The next song was even better although I didn't know the title of the piece. It was great stuff! Good Job Irfan!

After class gabriel and I went back to our room for a break b4 I followed Samuel, Vidas, Glenn, Shirlyn and Chery out for dinner at the road side vendors. It was good and cheap food!

Well that's about sums up the day. See you again soon!

Day 8 in Harbin, China

Hey yall... its day 8 already! Ain't that quick!! Hah i guess time flies quickly when ur free from excessive stress... Anway, lets talk about today...

We woke up early today to go for class at 8am in the morning, felt a little embarrased that we needed Dr Tan to knock on our door to wake us up. If not we probably would have been late for class. Thanks Dr Tan.

Anywan, today's lessons started with China History which brought us to the topic of how traditional chinese instruments like the Zhong (gong) and Di Zi(flute) were found. Accodring to the video that the professor showed us. It was dug up from a grave 2000 years ago! Amazing heh! furthermore, they are still using these type of instruments! WOW! There was this special Zhong found that could play 5 octaves worth of notes! Its like my french horn! I also learnt today that chinese instruments do not have the dominant and the leading note of a scale in thier playing. When the professor sung out a song in sulfage for us. I was really suprised! Something I never really took notice about.

Next lesson was music lesson. On types of singing methods. Next came lunch where we went to the dumpling shop near the hostel. It was good as usual. Eating my favourite Bo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork). Its really tasty...

Last lesson of the day was a lesson on chinese musical instruments. So far the professor had covered with us Pi Pa and Er Hu. So today we moved on to Gu Zheng. She showed us a number for videos of profesional Gu Zheng players playing classical chinese pieces. It was pretty nice but after awhile it started to get a little dull. But we persevered and the class ended with me still wide awake! AHAHAH!

Thats about it for the days activities. The other stuff I did i felt was not significant enough for it to find its way here on my blog haha!

Day 5 in Harbin, China

Its coming to an end of Day 5 in Harbin, China. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself over the past 2 days doing all sorts of things.
Today we went to Carefour in the city area. It took us approximately 20min to reach there by foot, but it was well worth it. Carefour is a part of the big shopping center located at the basement level. It was basically a supermarket to say the least. Items there ranged from food items to pots and pans, electronics and health care products. After gallivanting around for about 2 hours Gabriel, Vidas and I went back to the rendezvous spot and since we were the first to reach b4 any others, we decided to try out some of their food by the entrance of the shopping center. Kebabs, Takoyaki balls and meat and seafood skewers were what they could offer us. It was cheap and scrumptious.
After the rest had assembled, half of us took cabs back to the hostels while they other half went by bus. I'm sorry to say that i was feeling lazy and hence decided to take the "cab route" XD but we still needed to do some walking as the cabby dropped us outside the university campus. Anyway that's about all that i can share today. Will hopefully be back tmrw and share more great news about the on-going trip.
